Oil Spill Combat Team Indonesia supports a simulation of the oil spill crisis management system at Indonesia’s largest port, Tanjung Priok, in accordance with national and international standards under ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management System (BCMS).
This simulation is considered crucial given that activities at Tanjung Priok Port focus not only on smooth logistics and trade flow but also on readiness to handle various emergency conditions. This step is important in building preparedness for an integrated and coordinated crisis management system across all port area.
In this simulation, all terminals and port facilities are involved, ranging from international container terminals, energy terminals, multipurpose terminals, to logistics vehicle terminals.
One of the scenarios demonstrated in the simulations was the handling of an oil spill in the port area. The simulation was conducted to ensure all relevant parties understand the rapid response procedures and field coordination.
The exercise was also attended by the head of KSOP Tanjung Priok, Captain Heru Susanto, Executive General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok, Yandri Triasputra, and the Director General of Sea Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, Muhammad Masyhud, who also expressed appreciation and support for Pelindo Tanjung Priok in Building a crisis management system.
The implementation of BCMS in Tanjung Priok is the first in Indonesia, which is expected to serve as a model for other major ports in meeting national and international standards.
